The Life and Death of an Awakened Being

As Gregg Eller researched a book on the great meditation masters of Tibet's exile generation, the oral histories about His Holiness Karmapa XVI were remarkable and completely unlike the descriptions of other major spiritual figures. He conducted research across India, Nepal, the United States and Canada which evolved into this biographic film about Karmapa.

Gregg Eller is the principal of Tendrel Films. Concurrent with a communications career in the Silicon Valley, Gregg pursued outside creative projects and produced the teaching website of Pema Chodron before entering the world of independent film.

He began practicing meditation and studying with Jetsun Khandro Rinpoche in the mid 1990s. This opened a curious and extraordinary path eventually leading to the story of the Sixteenth Karmapa.

Gregg received an undergraduate degree in rhetoric from the University of California at Berkeley and has three other nonfiction stories in production. He lives in San Francisco. Recalling a Buddha is his first film. It is being submitted to film festivals and will screen throughout North America and Europe.
